Sophie Simpson

Hi, I’m Sophie…

Self-confessed birth nerd, scrunchy mum & I’d take a cuppa tea over a glass of wine any day!

When I first found out I was pregnant, I had that common mindset: “Labour’s going to be awful… but it’ll be worth it.” Sound familiar? What I didn’t realise back then was that birth didn’t have to feel scary. Once I started learning about how incredible our bodies are and how powerful we are as women—whether that’s through a vaginal birth, a planned caesarean, or when things take an unexpected turn—I realised there are tools out there to help us feel calm, confident, and totally  in control of our experience.

In November 2019, I had an amazing homebirth that completely changed me. (No joke—I felt like Beyoncé the second I gave birth!) And ever since then, I’ve been on a mission to help other families feel just as empowered and supported as they prepare to meet their babies—whatever that looks like for them.

Fast forward to today: I’m a qualified Hypnobirthing Instructor, a Community Midwifery Assistant, and over the past three years, I’ve supported more than 150 families on their birth journeys. I’ve seen birth unfold in so many different ways—and one thing I know for sure? Every single journey matters. Every birth story deserves respect, support, and celebration.

So, whether you’re feeling anxious about what’s ahead, curious about your options, or just want to feel calm and ready for whatever path your birth takes… I’m so glad you’re here.

You’ve got this – and I’m here to support you every step of the way.

How Hypnobirthing Can Help You.

Nervous? Anxious? Afraid? Not wanting to think about it? Heard too many traumatic stories? Let’s change that. If you want to feel in control, to reduce your fears and look forward to the day you give birth to your baby then hypnobirthing is for you.

A systematic review of hypnobirthing techniques during pregnancy found that it improved childbirth experience and reduced fear and pain and enhanced sense of control. It improved women’s emotional experience and outlook towards birth with less anxiety, increased satisfaction, fewer birth interventions, more postnatal wellbeing and a better childbirth experience overall. NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) state that women who choose to use hypnobirthing should be supported to do so.

The information we go through is evidence based and totally makes sense. You have no reason to doubt your body and your ability. You are perfectly designed to grow and birth your baby. We often see that fear and tension disrupt the normal process of birth increasing the likelihood of pain and intervention, so this is why we focus on a positive birth. It will help you learn to trust your body and your instincts. It will also help you feel in control and to make decisions that are right for you and your baby. Once you have completed the course, you can design your plan with confidence and know that any changes to this plan are okay. You can’t fail at hypnobirthing!
